In tegenstelling tot traditionele sferische lenzen, die een constante kromming hebben, hebben asferische elementen een niet-uniforme kromming, die vaak varieert over het oppervlak.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Het gebruik van asferische elementen helpt optische aberraties te verminderen, waaronder sferische aberratie.
